What is a Cacao Ceremony?

Cacao ceremonies have been used for centuries by indigenous cultures in Central and South America as a way to connect with the divine and heal the mind, body, and spirit. I have been very blessed with finding the right and integral lineage and teachers that have thought me how to hold the space properly and also helped me with the right honouring of the plant spirit in use. I am now finally ready to share this beautiful work with the world.

During a cacao ceremony, participants drink a special ceremonial grade cacao that is prepared in a ceremonial way. The cacao used in ceremonies is different from the chocolate you may be used to eating, as it is made from raw, unprocessed cacao beans that are roasted and ground into a paste. This paste is then mixed with hot water or milk, and sometimes sweetened with honey or other natural sweeteners. In addition, sometimes other herbs and plant spirits may be added to aid with a particular intention, for example Rosemary and Orange.

The cacao used in ceremonies is different from regular chocolate because it contains higher levels of theobromine and other compounds that have a positive effect on the body. These compounds can help to open the heart chakra, enhance feelings of love and connection, and promote a sense of well-being. However, the true power of a cacao ceremony comes from the intention that is set before drinking the cacao. The cacao itself is a powerful tool, but it is the intention and the energy that is brought to the ceremony that allows it to become a transformative experience.

By setting a clear intention before drinking the cacao, participants can tap into the healing power of this sacred plant medicine. Whether the intention is to release negative emotions, connect with a higher power, or simply enjoy the taste and experience of the cacao, the intention sets the tone for the ceremony and allows for deeper healing to occur.

Overall, a cacao ceremony is a beautiful and powerful way to connect with yourself, others, and the divine. Whether you are new to cacao ceremonies or a seasoned practitioner, setting an intention and infusing the cacao with other herbs can enhance the healing abilities of this sacred plant medicine and allow for deeper transformation to occur.
